Charity Rowathon for Prostate Cancer UK

As part of our Heart of Life is Health initiative, this month we hosted a Charity Rowathon, for Prostate Cancer UK, organised by our employee council We Matter. Our reception was kitted out with rowing machines, and industrial fans, for the use during our 8 hour competition between our Senior Leadership Team, We Matter, and Team Pennine.

With 1 in 8 men developing Prostate Cancer, our chosen charity for 2024 supports dads, brothers, partners, and friends by raising awareness, funding lifechanging research, campaigning for change, and providing much needed support.

We saw our three teams compete against each other to see who could row the furthest throughout the day.

It was a great event, seeing colleagues from across the company taking part and/or cheering their colleagues on. The results of our Rowathon event are as follows…

Here are the results…

Team Name Distance Travelled (meters)
The Senior Leadership Team 54,461
We Matter 55,307
Team Pennine 62,076

All three teams worked very hard hard, but it was Team Pennine who came out on top with a whopping 62,076 meters (38.57 miles) – well done team!

The total rowed by our colleagues was over 106 miles! This is great achievement for everyone involved, showing our combined commitment to ‘Protecting Life. Empowering Colleagues. Enriching Communities’.

A huge thank you to Home Gym Hire who kindly donated the rowing machinery, and also all those staff who took part.

Our Just Giving Link is still live – check it out now!
