Yesterday, Pennine Healthcare proudly took part in National Manufacturing Day 2025, welcoming the next generation of innovators into our workplace. This annual event is a highlight of our community engagement, giving students the opportunity to explore the world of manufacturing and the many rewarding career paths it offers.

Inspiring the Future Workforce

The day began with a warm welcome from our Head of Operations, Richard, and members of the team. Students were introduced to Pennine Healthcare and gained an overview of our company, our purpose, and the impact of our work within the medical device sector. This introduction helped set the stage for the day, sparking curiosity about how products are designed, manufactured, and delivered to support patients around the world.

Learning About Manufacturing and Careers

Following this, students took part in a session titled Manufacturing with Purpose, where they learned about the values and principles that drive everything we do at Pennine. They then had the opportunity to experience a live factory tour, seeing first-hand how our teams work together across departments to create high-quality products.

After lunch, the afternoon shifted focus to careers within the industry. Students attended our Careers at Pennine session, where colleagues shared personal experiences and insights into the diverse pathways available within manufacturing, from engineering and operations to quality control and product development. This gave students the chance to connect their own interests in STEM subjects to meaningful and exciting career opportunities.

A Hands-On Experience

One of the highlights of the day was the Assembling Competition. Students worked together to assemble components, racing against the clock to put their skills to the test. The friendly competition was followed by a judging session, which celebrated teamwork, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills that are critical within the manufacturing sector.

Exploring Pennine Healthcare

The factory tour earlier in the day was another standout experience. Guided by members of our wider team, students explored the different functions that keep a manufacturing business running smoothly. Along the way, our colleagues shared their career journeys and demonstrated the variety of roles available within the industry, showing students how wide-reaching and rewarding a career in manufacturing can be.

“From the moment we arrived, the team at Pennine Healthcare were welcoming and engaging. The presentations and guided tours were exceptionally well-organised and tailored to give students a real understanding of the processes, innovation, and career opportunities within the industry. Thank you again to the team for affording us an enjoyable and productive day.”
